Our dog was sprayed by a skunk during the night a few weeks ago. She came in the house through the doggie door and rolled on everything in sight. We have finally managed to more or less get rid of the stench which was enough to make a person gag, but tonight we smelled skunk again outside. We have no idea where the skunk lives but don't think it is right in our house. Our backyard shares a fence with 4 other property owners. We haven't seen anything that would help us figure this out, but we're scared to death that this could happen again and we and the house just can't handle it. Suggestions? David G.

We just moved into a new house and our dogs have been trying to get at something under the house. Well, this morning they found what they thought they were looking for. A skunk's nest. Both dogs were sprayed badly. We read about the hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and soap mix and it seemed to clean them up pretty well. St. Johns, Michigan is home to a large Opossum population

I think we have an opossum living in our attic. Even though we have no pets, we have had a flea infestation in our home in the past couple weeks and had to call a pest company to get rid of the fleas. They also set some mouse traps because we have been hearing noises in the attic for some time. But they don't seem to be doing any good. I think the noises are so loud that they cannot be mice, it has to be some bigger, heavier animal. Yesterday we heard several loud thuds and scratching noises like claws dragging across the ceiling. Time of day might help? We hear the noises at around 4 or 5 a.m. I am home during the day but I never hear anything in daytime - could it be that the opossum sleeps during the day but then goes out at night and comes back before dawn? My dogs caught 2 opossums in the past week. One larger, adult opossum we thought was dead, but it must have been the old "playing dead" thing, because it disappeared after being left for awhile. Then a baby opossum was killed by the dog last night. I don't believe that the opossums are in the house, only in the yard. Do I need to set traps to remove the opossums or should I just wait and see if they move on? Larry L.

We have Opossums in our Attic After reading all that I could find online, I think we need a trapper. There is a lot of noise every night and early morning and I think there might be babies. We have a very large attic and I am very concerned how many might decide to call this home if they are reproducing. We are pretty sure it is not rats but an Opossum. We checked all over the roof line and could find no entrance. Can they come up the walls to the attic? We do have a few screens at the foundation level and they do have holes. Tonight we both heard squeaks, really it was squeaks. So, how does that fit in to this nightmare? Please can you help us or at least give us suggestions on what to do? Teri S.
